The I think the depth is what impressed me the most. From start to finish, there were a lot of young guys on the field, and they all looked like they belonged. Even as we got into the third and fourth-string players, there was still a ton of high-level talent, which bodes well for the future.
I think the one area that stood out in a blowout game was the passing defense. Oregon didn’t get tested over the top at all, but they did give up some ground on the underneath crossing routes, which could be an area for improvement.
Do I think the whole storyline is a big deal? Definitely not. Do I think that Lanning is going to find a way to use Gundy’s comments as a way to motivate his team? Absolutely. I’m not sure how he will do it, but I can’t wait to see the “Ducks vs. Them” next Monday to find out.
I want to see more of Kyler Kasper in the receiving game. He had a couple of targets, but I think his size presents such a mismatch in the passing game that he should be utilized more often.
Dillon Thieneman didn’t have much of an opportunity to get into the game in Week 1 because of the dominance of the front seven and the lack of a passing game, but I think that will change this week. The Cowboys are going to push the ball downfield a bit more, and I think the Purdue transfer has a big game.
I just don’t really see a world where this isn’t a blowout. Give me all $100 on Oregon -28.5.
Give me Oregon 52, Oklahoma State 13
Don Smalley: Ducks 48, Cowboys 20
Paul White: I think the Ducks win this game 31-14 in a much tamer game than last week. They had an explosive performance against the Bobcats, but I think points will be much harder to come by this week.
Bjorn Bergstrom: The Ducks will win this one, though not necessarily as dominantly as last week, but still by a comfortable margin. 45-17, Oregon.
