LSU football will see a familiar face when it faces Louisiana Tech this weekend. Former LSU linebacker Kolbe Fields plays for the Bulldogs — and he’s become one of the best defenders in Conference USA.
Fields began his career with South Carolina before transferring to LSU for the 2022 season. Fields spent one year in Baton Rouge and appeared in 11 games. He played linebacker in three games while contributing on special teams throughout the year. On defense, Fields played 31 snaps and made three tackles and two stops.
After LSU, Fields took his talents to Louisiana Tech. 2024 was a breakout year for the veteran linebacker. Fields made 44 stops and notched 13 pressures. That led to high expectations for 2025, where Fields is already off to a good start. In Week 1, he totaled five stops and four pressures. He looks on track to be all-conference.
Louisiana Tech’s defense was one of the best in the Group of Six last year. With Fields back, the unit hopes for similar results this fall. However, the LSU offense will be a lot to handle.
