Two teams square off Saturday night for a chance to play for a regional championship.

Texas schools Forney and Willis square off in the UIL Division II Region II semifinals, taking place at Frisco’s Ford Center.

Both Forney and Willis come into Saturday’s matchup with identical 10-2 records. The winner advances to next week 6A DII Region II final against DeSoto, which posted a 56-34 win against The Woodlands College Park on Friday.

– What a performance by Texas commit Jermaine Bishop in Willis’ win. Bishop caught 15 receptions for 328 yards and three TDs – all in the second half – and a game-sealing interception.

– INTERCEPTION WILLIS. Guess who? Yep, Jermaine Bishop, who puts the bow on a phenomenal effort by picking off a Forney Hail Mary attempt on the game’s final play.

Javian Osborne, Forney tailback and Notre Dame commit, runs it in from 14 yards out; then on a PAT try, the kick is blocked but it’s fumbled by Willis and Forney’s Aaron Merkson lands on the ball in the end zone for two points. – FUMBLE RECOVERY FORNEY. Wow, what a play by the Jackrabbits defense, as Nick Moreno knocked the ball loose from a Willis player who was about to cross the goal line, and Forney’s Xzavier Young recovers with a minute left in the first half.
