It is the eve of the start of the Raiders 2025 season. They are headed for New England today for their season opener at Foxboro against the Patriots on Sunday. And with our countdown at No. 1 we take a look at who currently dons the number in Silver & Black and who has brought it the most distinction.
No. 1
Who’s wearing it now: WR Tre Tucker
Tucker was originally a third round pick by the Raiders int he 2023 NFL Draft out of Cincinnati. He has always been known for his speed, but not necessarily his hands. His receiving skills improved noticeably last season following eye surgery. The jump in his production didn’t quite follow, but the Raiders didn’t exactly have an ideal QB situation either.
Anyway, that was with Tucker wearing the number 11. He switched to the No. 1 this offseason, and now, with a year under his belt with his newfound sight, he enters this season as a starting outside receiver with an actual starting NFL quarterback throwing him the ball. So, we could see a more significant jump in his production this time.
Who wore it best: S Marcus Epps
Yes, Epps spent basically one full season with the Raiders. But it was a good season. And with very few Raiders to ever wear the number one, that’s all it took to be the best to wear it. Epps was signed as a free agent prior to the 2023 season and went on to start all 17 games, forming a solid duo with former second round pick Tre’von Moehrig. That carried over into 2024 when Epps was lost for the season in week three. And this offseason, the new coaching staff cleaned house, letting Epps and Moehrig — and the rest of the starting secondary and linebackers — leave in free agency.
