Sartell junior goalie wins athlete of the week after St. Cloud shutout

SAINT CLOUD — For the second week in a row a boys hockey goaltender is the athlete of the week.

Sartell-St. Stephen junior Brody Potthoff won the title for Nov. 23-29 after he saved 11 of 11 shots in a 5-0 win over the St. Cloud Crush. Crush senior goalie Nolan Lund won the title the previous week and was up for votes again, but won less than a percent of the electorate.

Pothoff won over 50% of votes in the poll, beating out junior teammate Preston Deragisch among other hockey players. Becker girls basketball sophomore stretch forward Adele Changamire was second place in voting with 24.3% and St. Cloud Cathedral boys hcokey senior goalie Blake Kayser won 11.3%.

Sartell is ranked No. 3 in letsplayhockey’s most recent rankings and Potthoff has allowed 2.21 goals against average this season with a .859 save percentage. The Sabres play three road games this week at Elk River, Roseau and Bemidji before returning to the Scheels Athletic Complex Dec. 18 against Alexandria Area.
