Raheem Morris gives injury updates on Divine Deablo, Matthew Bergeron

After losing their fourth game in a row, the Atlanta Falcons are running out of time to save their season. At 3-6, the team will need to go on a run over the final eight games to have a shot at the playoffs. Head coach Raheem Morris provided some injury updates ahead of Wednesday’s practice, offering both good news and bad news.

As expected, the Falcons will place linebacker DeAngelo Malone on the injured reserve list due to an ankle injury. On the flip side, Morris said linebacker Divine Deablo was “looking good” and has a chance to return once he’s eligible to come off IR in Week 12.

Left guard Matthew Bergeron, cornerback Mike Hughes, edge Leonard Floyd and offensive tackle Storm Norton all sat out in Week 10. Morris sounded optimistic about Hughes (neck injury) returning this week and said Bergeron was “day-to-day” with an ankle injury. Floyd will not practice on Wednesday but could be back later in the week.

Norton, on the other hand, will likely go back on the injured reserve list after reaggravating his foot injury last week.

The Falcons have to find a way to stop the bleeding against the Carolina Panthers in Week 11. While Atlanta has lost to two quality opponents in back-to-back weeks, the team’s worst loss of the season was to the Panthers back in Week 3. Carolina embarrassed Atlanta in a 30-0 shutout.

The Panthers have continued to ascend since that victory over the Falcons and currently sit above their NFC South rivals in the division standings. Sunday’s game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
