Nebraska (5-0-2) soccer played in the final nonconference match of the season on Sunday, facing Kansas State (4-1-1) at home. The Huskers handed the Wildcats their first loss of the season with a 2-0 shutout, earning their fourth-straight win.
After entering halftime scoreless, Kayma Carpenter, with two assists from Sadie Waite, quickly put the Huskers in a comfortable lead. Carpenter scored both of Nebraska’s goals in the win in swift fashion, putting two shots in the back of the net in the span of five minutes. She finished with three shots on the day.
Kansas State put up a fight, though, outshooting Nebraska 11-10, but suffered 16 fouls and only produced four shots on goal. Cece Villa secured the shutout on the day, snatching three saves for her fourth win of the season.
Nebraska finished with six shots on goal, with four players, alongside Carpenter, nearly getting one in the net. Freshmen Sadie Sant, Mila Brach, Ellie Felt, and Charlie Wistrom all finished with one shot on goal.
The Huskers stay home for the start of conference play, hosting Minnesota on Thursday night. The match is set for 7 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
