The 49ers rolled past the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday from State Farm Stadium, 41-22. While San Francisco can celebrate a dominant performance against one of their NFC West division rivals, the 49ers are also nursing some injuries coming out of the game.
Starting linebacker Tatum Bethune exited early with an ankle injury and did not return. 49ers kicker Eddy Pineiro left with a hamstring injury and did not return.
Afterwards, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan updated the injury statuses of each. Shanahan said that the 49ers think Pineiro pulled his hamstring, but the organization awaits further testing on Monday.
“No, I mean, we think he pulled it, but not sure, we’ll have to check tomorrow,” Shanahan said.
Shanahan was unsure in postgame if Bethune suffered a high ankle sprain. Like Pineiro, the organization will have a clearer picture after further Monday testing.
“Not sure. He wasn’t able to come back, so you always worry about that. We’ll have to check tomorrow to see if it was high ankle,” Shanahan said.
49ers defensive lineman Robert Beal was ruled out with a concussion. The 49ers also saw cornerback Upton Stout depart briefly with a stinger before returning. San Francisco linebackers Curtis Robinson and Luke Gifford were both evaluated for concussions and both were cleared and returned.
On another positive end of the injury equation, the 49ers finally enjoyed the return of starting quarterback Brock Purdy on Sunday. After missing the past six games and eight of the 49ers’ first 10 games, Purdy was back and he was sharp.
“I thought he did a good job. Made some good plays in there, ran the offense real well. Real good first game back,” Shanahan said of Purdy’s performance.
Purdy finished 19-of-26 passing for 200 yards with three touchdown passes.
The 49ers will host the Carolina Panthers (6-5) for a “Monday Night Football” date in Week 12 of the NFL season from Levi’s Stadium. San Francisco is 2-2 in home games thus far in 2025.
