Jets’ Kris Boyd reportedly shot overnight in New York, in critical condition

New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was shot overnight in New York City’s Midtown area and is reportedly in critical condition.

According to reports including the New York Post, the incident took place around 2 a.m. on Sunday morning:

The shooting reportedly took place on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue.

The Post reported that police did not confirm Boyd, 29, was involved in the incident. However, the Jets reportedly did and released a brief statement:

“We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time,” a team representative said.

The Post described the incident as such:

Boyd was shot in the abdomen outside Sei Less restaurant after a dispute turned violent, with the gunmen firing two shots, law enforcement sources told The Post.

The sources said Boyd was with a group of friends outside the trendy hot spot when the dispute broke out, ending with shots fired — but it is unclear if he was the intended target.

The sources said the shooter fled the scene in a BMW X6 SUV — but witnesses were uncooperative with cops.

A second vehicle, a high-end silver Mercedes-Benz Mayback, also fled the scene after the shooting, the sources said.

Photos from the scene also show a Rhino GX, a luxury armored SUV manufactured by US Specialty Vehicles that sells for up to $300,000, parked outside the restaurant after police arrived.

Boyd lapsed in and out of consciousness before he was rushed to the hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
