Tennessee Titans offensive tackle JC Latham told reporters after Titans practice that he will not be playing in the team’s Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Rams as he deals with a re-aggravated hip injury.
Latham, the Titans‘ first-round pick in 2024, started at right tackle in Week 1 and started all 17 games for the Titans at left tackle as a rookie. He’s been dealing with a hip injury since the first joint practice against the Atlanta Falcons on Aug. 12, but says he went into Week 1 feeling healthy and undisturbed.
“You try to power through everything,” Latham said. “It just made it worse. I thought I was good to go for the game. I felt amazing by the time the game came. Then a couple plays in, things started to happen. It’s pretty frustrating.”
Latham said the injury is a strain, so all he can do is take treatment and medication to heal and reduce inflammation, but there’s not much else available to him beyond rest.
Latham did not practice on Sept. 10 and was not spotted during the media viewing period of practice on Sept. 11.
With Latham out, the Titans are expected to start veteran Oli Udoh, who was Latham’s replacement in Week 1 as well. Udoh played 12 snaps and was credited as allowing one sack and one quarterback hit.
The Titans (0-1) host the Rams (1-0) at Nissan Stadium on Sept. 14 (noon CT, CBS).
