Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen was pleased with wide receiver Dyami Brown’s performance in Sunday’s 26-10 victory over the Panthers.
“I thought he did some good things,” Coen said on Wednesday. “Big critical catch before the half on the dagger, critical fourth down where he trips. He might have had a little bit more; he was pissed at himself. He has the curl, which was a good throw and catch.”Brown was targeted four times, resulting in three catches for 52 yards, including a 23-yard reception. He gained a first down every time he touched the ball and was second on the team in receiving yards, only behind Brenton Strange (59).
Coen tried to get Brown involved in the Jaguars‘ rushing game as well, and he picked up two carries for six yards, but was more effective through the air.
Yet, Coen was most impressed with his off-ball activities and his ability to give 100% effort into plays not designed for him.
“The one thing about Dyami that really did show up was his effort without the ball in his hands. Helping down the field blocking, motions, just doing the right things. I was pleased with his outing.”The fifth-year receiver spent his first four seasons with the Washington Commanders, where he played in 63 games, tallying 59 receptions for 784 yards and four touchdowns. His breakout year came in 2024, when he recorded career-highs in receptions (30) and yards (308) in Washington’s run to the NFC Championship game.
Brown will play his second game as a Jaguar when Jacksonville travels to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals on Sunday, September 14th at 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
