Liverpool seized control of their encounter with Leeds thanks to a remarkable quick-fire brace from French striker Hugo Ekitike shortly after the restart. His two goals within the first five minutes of the second half marked the first time any player has accomplished that feat since Raheem Sterling for Manchester City in March 2019.

The match remained at 2-0 in Liverpool’s favor as the clock passed the 70-minute mark. Ekitike’s contributions this campaign now total eight goals from 21 appearances for the club, along with a single assist.
