Green Bay Packers’ Jayden Reed posts simple message after injury vs Commanders

The euphoria of a Green Bay Packers team starting the year at 2-0 came at a cost, with an early injury to standout receiver Jayden Reed that will cost him a healthy chunk of the 2025 season.

Reed sustained a broken collarbone catching what would have been a 39-yard touchdown pass on the first series of the game, were it not for a holding penalty. Packers coach Matt LaFleur confirmed after the game that Reed is “going to miss a lot of time.”

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport posted, “The hope is that it’s a 6-8 week injury,” noting that Reed would then be available again sometime in November.

Reed took to social media in the early morning hours Sept. 12 and posted a simple message: “I’ll be back.”

The Packers are fortunate to have a talented group of receivers, not to mention an emerging star in tight end Tucker Kraft, but Reed has been near the top on Jordan Love’s list of weapons. The third-year slot receiver has 15 touchdown catches in his two-plus seasons, part of his 122 receptions for 1,695 yards, not to mention three more touchdowns as a rusher.

Reed headed into the season with what was reported as a “Jones fracture” in his left foot, a break in the fifth metatarsal that often requires surgery. He expected to play through the injury, though he wore a walking boot at points during the preseason.
