Georgia freshman tight end suffers brutal lower leg injury

A Georgia Bulldog player suffered a major injury in the Bulldogs game against Austin Peay. Freshman tight end Ethan Barbour was carted off the field with a brutal lower leg injury.

Barbour suffered the injury on the final play of the first half. On that play, Georgia was on the one yard line trying to score with five seconds left and no timeouts. Unfortunately, Chauncy Bowens was stopped behind the line of scrimmage by Austin Peay defensive line Charles Crew III, ending the half.

While Bowens was slipping, he landed right on Ethan Barbour’s lower leg, twisting it in an awkward way.

Barbour was supposed to be one of the rare true freshman to contribute to Georgia. The former four-star prospect displayed impressive blocking skills as Georgia’s fullback role in Georgia’s win over Marshall. As a senior, Barbour helped lead Milton to a 15-0 record and GHSA Class 5A state championship, with 989 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, and four touchdowns.

Georgia is currently still in a weather delay vs. Austin Peay. Once the second half emerges, the Bulldogs will need to be more productive on offense. They will be without one of their best blocking tight ends.
