Former Alabama wide receiver signs contract extension entering NFL season

According to multiple reports, former Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Jameson Williams has signed a contract extension with the Detroit Lions.

Announced on Saturday, the deal is reportedly for three years and $83 million, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, and became public the day before Williams and Detroit opened the season at Green Bay in Week 1.

Selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft out of Alabama, Williams is coming off a breakout 2024 campaign with Detroit in which he had 58 receptions for 1,001 yards and seven touchdowns across 15 games played. During his three seasons in Detroit since entering the league, Williams has a combined 83 receptions for 1,396 yards and 10 touchdowns across 33 games played.

Williams is currently one-of-four former Alabama players on the Lions, joined by running back Jahmyr Gibbs, cornerback Terrion Arnold, and safety Brian Branch.
