Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London is having an incredible season, but the same cannot be said of the team’s other pass catchers. This may be due to a lack of distribution in the passing attack, or perhaps London just badly needs some help at the wide receiver position.
London has been targeted on 85 of the team’s 286 pass attempts in 2025. Other wide receivers have a combined 70 targets of that 286, while tight end Kyle Pitts and running back Bijan Robinson account for 113 of the targets. While Robinson has been openly receptive to a transitional role to accommodate, offensive coordinator Zac Robinson has been equally non-receptive to the reality that his strategy is simply not working.
London isn’t the only serviceable wide receiver on the roster and the skill sets of Darnell Mooney, Casey Washington, and Khadarel Hodge should be used to lesson the load on his shoulders. Yet, Robinson continues to use 21 personnel with pistol formation on obvious passing downs, deploying Bijan Robinson outside of the hashes.
Head coach Raheem Morris was asked about whether he would make adjustments given the constructive criticism he’s received and nearly all his rebuttals hint at the glory in almost winning games.
“We got a really good group here,” Morris said of his coaching staff. “We’ve got a really good group of guys, and we’ve been in two tough games in back to back weeks versus two really good football teams that we were highly competitive in.”
London has his limitations and if the Falcons don’t find him some help on the outside, they can expect their passing attack to continue sputtering in 2025.
