Bears president Kevin Warren provides update on stadium efforts in open letter to fans

Even when the Chicago Bears are just hours away from opening up their 2025 season, team president Kevin Warren is focused on moving the team’s new stadium project forward. He took another step in doing so on Monday afternoon, releasing an open letter to fans of the team regarding the status of the stadium in Arlington Heights and a new target for opening it.

“We are at a pivotal juncture of the Chicago Bears franchise to build a new stadium, our future home in Arlington Heights, which will require zero state money for construction,” Warren writes. “This is the year to finalize our stadium plans so we can officially bid to host a Super Bowl as soon as 2031. This is the moment to begin moving toward that future, and we want you with us.”

Warren is hopeful the Bears can host a Super Bowl in 2031, which means he’s targeting opening the stadium no later than 2030. Shovels will need to get in the ground soon, though, and we may have more details on those next steps.

According to Robert McCoppin of the Chicago Tribune,Warren and the Bears plan on releasing new stadium plans this fall with the idea of breaking ground in the spring. Warren has repeatedly stated his goal was to break ground in 2025, so this would be another setback. Still, it sounds like plans are finally coming together to move the project forward.

The Bears’ stadium saga has lasted nearly four years after they entered into an agreement to purchase the former Arlington Park property in 2021. Since then, the project has seen more pivots and changes of direction than a Devin Hester punt return. From committing to Arlington Heights with Ted Phillips at the helm to changing directions back toward downtown Chicago with Warren, the Bears have come full circle and appear ready to move ahead with the 326-acre plot of land.
