The Arizona Cardinals have another player potentially nearing a return, only this player is nearing perhaps making his NFL debut. The team announced Thursday that rookie offensive lineman Hayden Conner returned to practice.
Conner, drafted in the sixth round this year, suffered a knee injury in the preseason and was placed on injured reserve as part of final roster cutdowns, but was designated to return, making him eligible to possibly play at some points during the season.
His 21-day practice window was opened, allowing him to be on the field and get on-field reps in practice with the team. At any point in the 21 days or at its conclusion, he will need to be activated from IR and occupy a spot on the 53-man roster. If he is not activated, he will revert to IR and miss the remainder of the season.
This will give Conner a shot at getting on-field reps in practice with his teammates since August.
