PM Modi Urges Indians to Save Fuel, Consider Work From Home and Avoid Gold Purchases Amid Oil Crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to adopt fuel-saving measures, consider work-from-home arrangements, and temporarily reduce non-essential spending, including gold purchases, as India confronts mounting pressure from a worsening global oil crisis.

Speaking during a public address amid rising international energy tensions, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need for collective economic discipline and responsible energy consumption as global crude oil prices continue to remain volatile.

The Prime Minister suggested that both individuals and businesses could contribute to reducing fuel demand by limiting unnecessary travel and expanding remote working arrangements where possible.

PM Modi Calls for Public Cooperation

Addressing concerns over rising fuel import costs and economic uncertainty, Prime Minister Modi said India must prepare for prolonged instability in international energy markets.

He urged citizens to think practically about reducing petrol and diesel consumption, including through carpooling, public transport usage, and work-from-home policies for offices capable of operating remotely.

The Prime Minister also appealed for restraint in discretionary spending, including postponing major luxury purchases such as gold for a temporary period.

India is among the world’s largest importers of crude oil, making the country highly sensitive to disruptions in global energy supply chains and shipping routes.

Government officials have warned that sustained increases in oil prices could place additional pressure on inflation, transportation costs, and household expenses.
