After waiving safety Kahlef Hailassie earlier in the week, the Jacksonville Jaguars have updated their team depth chart.
While we should always take these depth charts with a grain of salt, there are a few notes to make on each side of the ball, given the latest playing time developments.
Jacksonville Jaguars’ depth chart notes on offense
– As we detailed recently, Dyami Brown has been the fourth wide receiver on the depth chart the last two weeks in terms of snaps played. Once Brian Thomas Jr. is back in the lineup, Brown’s opportunities are likely to be reduced even more.
– Cole Van Lanen appears to be the first option off the bench for the Jaguars at either guard or center. Two weeks ago, he started at left guard with Ezra Cleveland out. This past game, he started at right tackle while Anton Harrison was sidelined.
– Johnny Mundt and Quintin Morris have been sharing playing time with Brenton Strange and Hunter Long out. However, the way Morris is playing, especially in the run game, he’s someone who could be earning more snaps moving forward.
Jacksonville Jaguars depth chart notes on defense
– The Jaguars’ interior defensive line rotation this past game consisted of Arik Armstead, DaVon Hamilton, and Maason Smith — as expected — along with Dawuane Smoot continuing to see more snaps inside.
– At defensive end, Emmanuel Ogbah was a healthy scratch against LA, while the Jaguars leaned on rookies BJ Green and Danny Striggow behind Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker. Dennis Gardeck saw his share of defensive end snaps as well.
– The Jaguars have just three safeties on the 53-man roster currently. Juan Thornhill on the practice squad is a likely elevation candidate to bolster that depth.
– At cornerback, Jarrian Jones has filled in at the nickel with Jourdan Lewis out. Greg Newsome and Montaric Brown have been at outside cornerback with Christian Braswell as the backup.
