The Ravens have all the ingredients to make a deep playoff run while maintaining their reputation as the most explosive offense in the NFL. Everything starts with Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. Still, third-year running back Keaton Mitchell was expected to bring an element of explosiveness and big-play abilities that could catapult this team to a Lombardi Trophy.
A torn ACL cut short a dynamic rookie debut for Mitchell, but after regaining his footing in 2024, Mitchell entered year three feeling more explosive than he’s been since entering the NFL out of ECU. That confidence didn’t materialize into playing time in Week 1, as Mitchell was inactive and a healthy scratch in favor of Rasheen Ali.
Baltimore just revealed their depth chart for Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns, and Ali has passed Mitchell on the running back group and in the kickoff return group.
As a rookie, Mitchell led all running backs with at least a dozen attempts in yards per carry (8.4 avg) and looked to be the most explosive player on the roster.
Last season, Mitchell played just 61 snaps, including only 36 on offense, logging 15 carries for 30 yards in five games played. He entered 2025 as one of the most versatile home run threats in the NFL, but he could be buried on the depth chart unless an injury or roster moves occur.
