No. 8 Notre Dame has scored against No. 17 Texas A&M before its offense has even possessed the ball.
That’s because the Aggies allowed the Fighting Irish to block a punt after a promising opening drive stalled.
The Aggies started the game with an 11-yard first-down carry from running back Le’Veon Moss, but a holding penalty and a few incomplete passes — including a last-second pass breakup and a pass that was nearly picked by Christian Gray — meant the Aggies were ready to punt it away to the Fighting Irish.
Texas A&M didn’t block Loghan Thomas, and Thomas batted the punt towards Tae Johnson, who took it in from 24 yards out for the easy score.
