Portugal hit Armenia for nine, World Cup 2026 now has 31 teams 🏆

Portugal scored 9 x 1 against Armenia this Sunday (16), at Estádio do Dragão, securing a spot in the 2026 World Cup.

Bruno Fernandes and João Neves achieved a HAT-TRICK. Renato Veiga, Gonçalo Ramos, and Francisco Conceição completed the Portuguese rout.

With this, Portugal will head to its NINTH World Cup in search of its first title.

In their best campaign, back in 1966, the Portuguese team finished third.

This Sunday (16), Roberto Martínez was without Cristiano Ronaldo – suspended after being sent off in the 2 x 0 defeat to Ireland.

The Portuguese team opened the scoring early at eight minutes. Bruno Fernandes took a free kick, the goalkeeper gave a rebound, and Renato Veiga headed it into the net.

Armenia even equalized with Spertsyan, but Portugal went up 5 x 1 still in the first half with goals from Gonçalo Ramos, João Neves (two), and Bruno Fernandes.

Bruno Fernandes himself scored TWO more goals in the second half to turn the thrashing into a ROUT.

João Neves also achieved a hat-trick in the match. And Francisco Conceição closed the score at 9 x 1 against Armenia.
