New England Patriots offensive tackle Will Campbell is not taking the New York Jets lightly, as the two teams are set to collide on Thursday Night Football in Week 11.
The Jets are sitting at 2-7 and dead last in the AFC East division this season. With that being said, they have been playing better as of late, winning their last two games against the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals. That success has come unexpectedly with the team currently in rebuilding mode after trading away cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams at the trade deadline.
They’ve had questions at the quarterback position with Justin Fields as the starter. Wide receiver Garrett Wilson is also sidelined with an injury. Given all of the issues going on right now in New York, Campbell and the Patriots are still taking them seriously.
“I haven’t heard anyone say that this was gon’ be an easy win,” Campbell told media members. “I don’t think that records in the NFL matter, at all. Every team has players in the National Football League. Every team has Pro Bowlers, players that can hurt you if you don’t do your job. This is a divisional game. It’s never gonna be easy playing when you’re playing in the division.”
This is a mature mentality to have for a first-year player in the NFL.
The Jets have looked like a mess on paper, but it’s a divisional game on a short week of football. Campbell and the Patriots still have to go out there and handle business to win their eighth straight game.
