The Oregon Duck — the mascot, not the No. 7 Ducks football team — is a spectacular agent of chaos in the college sports world, and we here at For The Win absolutely love his chaotic moments. The latest one was Saturday in Eugene during ESPN’s College GameDay when the Duck was up to its typical hijinks.
In front of a camera, the Oregon Duck is particularly wild with a relatively recent penchant for losing its head. Over the years, the mascot has ziplined into the stadium to Mission Impossible music, destroyed a children’s basketball hoop upon its field entrance and one time even nailed an Oregon fan in the face with a sheet cake on live TV. And, of course, the Duck’s chaos has extended to college hoops too.
So Saturday, ahead of Oregon’s home matchup against No. 15 USC, the Duck was at it again. As ESPN’s Pete Thamel was running through some high-profile injuries, absences and game-time decisions for Week 13’s games, the Duck was right there with him, donning glasses resembling Thamel’s and holding cue cards apologizing in advance to the veteran college football reporter.
“He’s gonna hate me” and “Sorry not sorry Pete” were written

The Duck’s apology was clearly for the mid-sentence Gatorade bath — followed by a feather bath — he delivered on top of Thamel in the middle of his report. A total pro, Thamel kept going.
ABSOLUTE CHAOS. Never change, Duck.
