No. 5 Miami (2-0) vs. No. 18 USF (2-0), Saturday, 4:30, The CW Network
Latest line: Miami is favored by 17 1/2 points

The Bulls are the college football darlings right now, earning the No. 18 spot in the AP poll after upsetting ranked Boise State and Florida. USF is talented, featuring dual-threat quarterback Byrum Brown, but the two big wins belie middle-of-the-pack regular and advanced stats in many categories. Now that the Hurricanes are fully aware of the upset potential, I expect Miami to be on their game against a good but not elite USF squad.

What a month for South Florida with wins against Boise State and Florida. All that plays to the Hurricanes advantage of not being surprised by who’s coming to town. So, talent wins out here, and Miami has the by-far superior talent this game. South Florida will make it a game for a bit. But just a bit.

Can UM slow down USF’s 6-foot-3, 232-pound dual-threat quarterback Byrum Brown? That’s the key to stopping the Bulls, who will not go quietly. The Bulls’ stunner against No. 25 Boise State and No. 13 Florida certainly got UM’s attention. The Hurricanes should win, but it won’t be easy. Quarterback Carson Beck should continue his strong start behind Miami’s standout offensive line, which may be among the best in the nation. UM star defensive end Rueben Bain Jr. should have another big game.
