This comes after a mixed qualifying for Mercedes, whose drivers George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli respectively took fourth and 17th.

It was a tricky session given the wet conditions, which caught out rookie Antonelli, who claimed he was fast on his final lap in Q1 but took extra precaution.
The 19-year-old said: “It was tricky for everyone. Obviously, it was very slippery and just, yeah, I don’t know. The last lap was going to be good enough for top five and I took some margin in the last braking, just to avoid any bad surprises, and just still ended up locking up and losing the lap, and got knocked out.
“Two laps before I was in P5, I think, and then obviously to end up P17 is very frustrating.”
