Luka Garza, Jordan Walsh on Boston Celtics community events, getting out in the city

If you walked into a bowling alley in Boston recently and saw two very tall men who look just like Boston Celtics players Luka Garza and Jordan Walsh, there is a very real chance you did indeed see the duo making an appearance at a Celtics community event. The pair took some time to talk to assembled local media about how they have been enjoying the city and getting out to do things when they are not busy at practice or playing games for Boston.

Walsh has been with the team for several seasons now, but Garza just got to the city, and has been learning about it as he puts down roots in his new NBA home. “I’m one of those guys who likes to explore, so I’ve been all around and trying to just embrace the community and go around and adventure off and find new places, and so it’s been a lot of fun,” said Garza via CLNS Media. “The city is amazing. I love it here, but it’s awesome to see how the community embraces the Celtics, and it’s awesome we have the chance to give back and do the same for them.”

“Their support of us is incredible,” said Garza. “But especially with the little kids, looking up to guys on the Celtics, it doesn’t matter who you are. Just putting that name across your chest, you automatically become a role model. So you have to step into that, and obviously when you get a chance to interact with them, try to make a positive impact.”

Walsh admitted he still stays home a lot of nights, but he still makes an effort to take part in community events. “I try to stay at home as much as possible, but something like thisβ€” like for eventsβ€” it’s something fun,” said Walsh.

“It’s bowling. That’s super fun. Who has anything better to be doing right now? So, why not be here? I’d be at home playing the game or something. So, coming here and being a part of this is something special, and I would never pass up this opportunity.”
