White House Announces New Phase of Military Campaign

The White House said the United States is moving to dismantle Iran’s missile-building infrastructure, marking a new phase in the ongoing war between the United States and Iran.

Speaking at a press briefing on March 10, 2026, in Washington, D.C., White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said U.S. military operations are now targeting facilities involved in producing Iran’s ballistic missiles.

According to the White House, the move follows earlier strikes that destroyed more than 50 Iranian naval vessels, which officials say have rendered large parts of Iran’s navy “combat ineffective.”

The campaign is part of a broader U.S. strategy aimed at reducing Iran’s ability to launch missile attacks against American forces and regional allies.

B-2 Bombers Used to Strike Missile Sites

U.S. officials said B-2 Spirit stealth bombers were deployed in recent operations targeting underground missile facilities.

The aircraft reportedly dropped multiple 2,000-pound bunker-buster bombs designed to penetrate fortified underground sites used for missile production and storage.

Defense officials say the stealth bombers are particularly suited for such missions because they can evade air-defense systems and strike heavily protected targets.

Military analysts say the strikes indicate a shift from earlier operations that focused mainly on naval assets and missile launchers.

Goal: Cripple Iran’s Missile Capability

The White House said the objective of the new operations is to permanently degrade Iran’s missile-building capability.

U.S. officials argue that Iran’s ballistic missile program poses a major threat to regional security and to U.S. military bases across the Middle East.

The strikes are part of the wider military campaign launched by the administration of President Donald Trump, which began after large-scale hostilities erupted in late February 2026.

The operation aims to destroy Iran’s missile systems, weaken its naval forces, and prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons, according to U.S. defense officials.

Iran Rejects U.S. Claims

Iranian officials have rejected claims that its missile program has been destroyed or severely weakened.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said its forces continue to launch missiles and maintain operational capabilities despite the strikes.

Iranian authorities have also accused the United States and Israel of targeting civilian infrastructure during the campaign, allegations that U.S. officials deny.

Regional Conflict Continues to Escalate

The latest announcement comes as fighting continues across the Middle East, with missile and drone attacks reported in several countries.

The conflict has already expanded into naval operations in the Persian Gulf and airstrikes across Iranian territory, raising concerns about broader regional instability.

Defense officials say the United States will continue operations until Iran’s military capabilities no longer pose a threat to American forces and international shipping routes.
