It took Ben Johnson’s offense just eight minutes to score their first touchdown of the 2025 National Football League season. After stopping the Minnesota Vikings on the defensive end, the Chicago Bears marched right down the field and scored a touchdown.

Quarterback Caleb Williams was 6 for 6 on the drive, and found five different receivers. The final nail was a nine-yard touchdown run that resulted in something that he did not do a single time in 2024.

Under head coach Matt Eberflus and then interim Thomas Brown, he did not run for a single rushing touchdown in 2024.

This was his first, and it took the former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator just 8 minutes to get the job done.

Eberflus was fired in November of 2024, and then Thomas Brown finished the rest of the season, but was not hired back when the search for a new head coach went in favor of Johnson.

The Bears are coming off a 5-12 season and have missed the postseason in each of the last four seasons. The last time Chicago was in the playoffs was 2020 when they finished 8-8, but lost in the wild card round to the New Orleans Saints.

The last time Chicago won a postseason game was in 2010 when they beat the Seattle Seahawks.

Chicago will play at Detroit in Week 2, and that will result in Johnson heading back to the place that made him a strong offensive coordinator. The Lions started the season 0-1, losing on the road at the Green Bay Packers in Week 1.
