Garrett Wilson: Justin Fields, Jets offense: ‘Not done’ showing what they can do

·

The New York Jets offense took off against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1.

Not enough for a win in the 34-32 final, but the hope is that part happens this upcoming Sunday against the Buffalo Bills (1-0).

Quarterback Justin Fields was a big reason why the Jets (0-1) looked so promising during the team’s season opener. He was 16 of 22 for 218 yards, including a 33-yard touchdown throw to Garrett Wilson, and he ran 12 times for 48 yards and two other TDs.

With Wilson benefitting from Fields’ successes, it reminded many of their days playing on the same team at Ohio State. The QB himself admitted that.

“It felt like old times, for sure,” Fields said.

While a blast to the past, Wilson added this week that he does not see that as a flash in the pan. The Jets’ No. 1 receiver sees a lot more en route for the offense and Fields, specifically.

“(Fields) loves the game. He plays it the right way and has the right mindset every time he takes that field. And to all the teammates, that stuff’s contagious, right?,” Wilson said. “So he’s not done yet. You know, we’re not done yet. We’re all excited for the opportunities we have to go show the world what we can do.”

Wilson will hope that sentiment holds true after Week 1, even if selfishly, but the seven catches, 95 yards and touchdown will help his team too.
