At 2-7, the New York Jets’ 2025 season already went off the rails a long time ago. Head coach Aaron Glenn has struggled to maintain consistent momentum for his team, while it simultaneously remains unclear who the Jets’ starting quarterback is right now.
To make matters worse, the Jets are facing the juggernaut New England Patriots, revitalized by Drake Maye’s MVP-caliber play, on Thursday night. And they’re going to be without arguably their best offensive player.
Fourth-year receiver and former first-round draft pick Garrett Wilson will miss the AFC East rivalry matchup with a knee sprain. In fact, per ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Wilson will likely miss the next month or so as he recovers from the injury. When it comes to the Jets, if it’s raining, it’s probably pouring:

Entering Thursday night’s game, the Jets have won two of their last three games. But those wins came at the expense of the Joe Burrow-less Cincinnati Bengals and the lowly Cleveland Browns, so they’re not exactly anything to write home about.
The Patriots, for all intents and purposes, and without Wilson especially, are a different animal.
Who is Garrett Wilson’s backup on the Jets?
Tyler Johnson is officially listed as Wilson’s backup on the Jets’ depth chart. You can also expect a larger role for recent trade acquisition Adonai Mitchell.
