Inter captain Lautaro Martinez reflected on receiving the AIC award for Best Striker and used the moment to praise teammate Marcus Thuram, while also thanking Diego Milito for the influence he continues to have on his career.
The Argentine spoke to the Assocalciatori on their official social channels after collecting the prize earlier this week, with .
“There are certainly many players who had a great season. I think Marcus deserved it too, maybe instead of me,” he joked, before adding that Serie A is full of attacking talent clubs must “hold onto”.
Looking at the current campaign, Lautaro highlighted the competitiveness of Serie A. “Italian football is always difficult. Teams know each other more every year… the table is strange right now with four or five teams within a point,” he said, calling it a season that will demand concentration until the final matchday.
Finally, he acknowledged the continued support of a club legend.
“Diego Milito, definitely. When I arrived at Racing he adopted me. He gave me advice and support. He still does today, we speak sometimes and I always send him a big hug,” Lautaro added.
It was a reminder of the relationships that shaped Inter’s captain, and the ones still driving him today.
