Liam Coen weighs in on Trevor Lawrence’s play in Jaguars’ Week 14 win

Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach Liam Coen thought that Trevor Lawrence’s game against the Colts was one of his more accurate performances of the season.

“I thought he rose to the occasion yesterday and played at a high level,” Coen said on Monday. “He was really accurate. I thought it was one of his more accurate games. Big plays that we needed on critical third downs. So hopefully we can continue to ride that momentum.”

Lawrence finished the contest, completing 17-of-30 passes for 244 yards with two touchdowns.

His completion percentage isn’t going to leap off the stat sheet, but the Jaguars’ pass catchers were credited with three dropped passes. It was also raining for much of the game, and several of Lawrence’s completions were well-placed downfield throws.

For the second game in a row, Lawrence did not have any turnover-worthy throws, according to PFF. And of his 17 completions, 11 went for first downs.

Along with taking care of the ball, Lawrence and the passing game continue to generate chunk plays through the air.

Lawrence’s 8.1 yards per pass attempt was the ninth-highest mark in Week 14, and his four big-time throws — or passes with “excellent” ball location and timing — were the fourth-most this week as well.

As the season has progressed, Lawrence and the Jaguars’ passing game continue to pick up steam.
