Indianapolis Colts injury updates: 2 key contributors return to practice in Week 12

Two key contributors will be back on the practice field on Wednesday for the Indianapolis Colts.

Shane Steichen announced before practice that defensive end Samson Ebukam and wide receiver Anthony Gould would practice on Wednesday.

Ebukam had missed the last three games with a knee injury, and Gould the last two games with a knee injury of his own.

We still have to wait and see what the week holds in terms of each player’s availability on Sunday in Kansas City, but potentially getting Ebukam back would provide the pass rush with some needed depth.

Against Atlanta prior to the bye week, the Colts were without Ebukam and Tyquan Lewis at defensive end, along with DeForest Buckner being out at defensive tackle.

At both the end and tackle spots, the Colts primarily relied on a three-man rotation at two positions where it’s customary for four or sometimes even five players to see snaps.

Without Gould in the lineup, the Colts turned to Josh Downs to handle punt return reps, while Ameer Abdullah joined Ashton Dulin on kick returns.

Lewis is not practicing, with Steichen saying that the groin injury hasn’t responded as hoped, according to Joel Erickson of the Indy Star.

Also back at practice were Charvarius Ward and Jaylon Carlies, both of whom have been designated to return from injured reserve.
