Saints release six-time 1,000-yard WR — will Steelers pursue the veteran pass catcher?

A veteran wide receiver has just been released by the New Orleans Saints — and the Pittsburgh Steelers need to act fast to sign him.

On Wednesday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that WR Brandin Cooks was released by the Saints — a mutual decision between both sides.

A 12-year wideout with six 1,000-yard receiving seasons with four different teams, Cooks has proven himself a valuable asset to any NFL offense.

Cooks now heads to waivers for his next opportunity in the league, where he’d potentially be a perfect fit alongside Steelers WRs DK Metcalf, Roman Wilson, and Calvin Austin III, catching passes from 41-year-old QB Aaron Rodgers — when healthy, that is.
