NFL makes decision on Ja’Marr Chase punishment ahead of Patriots game

The NFL is reportedly suspending Cincinnati Bengals All-Pro wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase for one game after determining that he spat on Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey during a game on Sunday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

In the initial replay video, both players could be seen coming face-to-face and exchanging words on the field, but things took a turn once Ramsey grabbed Chase by the facemask and swung at his helmet. After the game, Ramsey claimed that Chase spat on him and provoked the physical reaction.

Chase denied that he spat on Ramsey when asked about the incident in the locker room after the game. However, cameras on the field told a different story with footage emerging where you can clearly see Chase spitting on Ramsey.

Chase being suspended means the New England Patriots will be facing a struggling Bengals team without their top offensive weapon on the field.

That could be a game-changer for the Patriots, who can now use All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez on wide receiver Tee Higgins and force the Bengals to look elsewhere for offensive production. Chase will have a chance to appeal his decision if he chooses to go down that road.
