Glasgow, Scotland — Danny Röhl has been appointed as the new head coach of Rangers FC, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract. The 36-year-old German coach replaces Russell Martin, who departed the club earlier this month. Röhl’s appointment concludes a tumultuous managerial search that saw the club pursue Steven Gerrard and Kevin Muscat before settling on the former Sheffield Wednesday manager. (ESPN.com)
Röhl arrives at Ibrox amid a challenging season for Rangers, who are currently sixth in the Scottish Premiership, 13 points behind leaders Hearts. The team has also suffered defeats in their first two Europa League matches. Despite these challenges, Röhl expressed confidence in his ability to turn the team’s fortunes around. “It is a huge privilege to be taking on the role of head coach at such an incredible club,” he said upon his appointment. Prior to his tenure at Sheffield Wednesday, Röhl held assistant coaching roles at top clubs including Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, and Southampton, as well as with the German national team. His experience in high-pressure environments is expected to serve him well as he takes on the demanding role at Rangers. (Wikipedia)
Röhl’s first match in charge will be Thursday’s Europa League fixture against Brann in Norway. With the club’s expectations high, Röhl’s ability to quickly implement his vision and strategies will be closely scrutinized by both supporters and management alike. (ESPN.com)
