Week 3 Scouting Notebook: 5 potential Chargers prospects in the 2026 NFL draft

·

Welcome back to another edition of The Scouting Notebook.

The Scouting Notebook will feature prospects to watch during the college football slate. While some may think it’s too early to start talking about the 2026 NFL draft, there’s never a bad time to discuss the future of the Chargers.

That said, here are the players to watch for in Week 3.

CB Chandler Rivers, Duke

Rivers is a little on the smaller side at 5’10”, 180 lbs, but that’s been a mold the Chargers have found success with under defensive coordinator Jesse Minter. A natural zone corner and reliable tackler, Rivers also carries a strong background on special teams that could attract the eye of Ryan Ficken. He’d give the Bolts a starter in the slot and allow Tarheeb Still to stay on the outside as needed.

G Billy Schrauth, Notre Dame

Schrauth and the Notre Dame offensive line struggled in the Fighting Irish‘s opening loss to Miami, but they’ll have another marquee opportunity to bounce back against Texas A&M on Saturday. The Chargers are historically favorable to Notre Dame prospects and could be looking for more options on the interior with Zion Johnson and Jamaree Salyer hitting free agency after the season.

EDGE Joshua Josephs, Tennessee

Josephs has been an early riser this season after a strong performance against Syracuse in Week 1. With a verified arm length measurement of 34 3/4″, some analysts called the Volunteer a more complete edge rusher than his former teammate James Pearce Jr., who was a first-round selection this April. Josephs will have a big opportunity to burst onto the national scene with a big game against Georgia looming.

TE Brett Norfleet, Missouri

The Chargers could be looking to continue to inject the tight end position with youth, and Norfleet would be a good fit in Greg Roman’s offense. At 6-foot-6 and 260 pounds, Norfleet is an athletic TE with strong hands and natural body control, with the ability to stretch the field vertically. He also does the dirty work in the blocking department. A weapon in the red zone, Norfleet has three touchdowns in two games.

EDGE David Bailey, Texas Tech

The edge defender position will be a priority for the Chargers, with Khalil Mack’s career nearing an end. While Tuli Tuipulotu brings power, Bailey would inject the position room with an explosive presence who utilizes bend and burst to get after the quarterback. He has all the traits you look for in a first-round pass rusher.
