The San Francisco 49ers will be without tight end George Kittle for the foreseeable future with a hamstring injury he sustained in their season opener.
While a specific timeline isn’t yet known, he is expected to be out between three to five weeks — which makes him a candidate to land on injured reserve, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
To add to the 49ers’ injury woes, quarterback Brock Purdy sustained both a left shoulder injury and a toe injury in the team’s 17-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Though coach Kyle Shanahan said the toe injury is worse than the shoulder, Purdy’s status moving forward is not yet clear.
If Purdy is sidelined for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints, Mac Jones is the next man up.
