WEST LAFAYETTE − Offensive lineman Marc Nave Jr. ia available for Purdue football‘s 7:30 p.m. game against Southern Illinois.
Nave, a redshirt freshman transfer from Kentucky, had worked in with the first offensive line unit for a portion of fall training camp, but suffered an injury.
Nave was out for the season opener Aug. 30 against Ball State but does not appear on Purdue’s availability report against the Salukis.
If Nave plays, it should help an offensive line unit that coordinator Josh Henson noted had inconsistencies in Purdue’s season opener. Center Bradyn Joiner was the Boilermakers‘ highest graded lineman last week by Pro Football Focus and ranked 54th nationally among centers. No other Purdue lineman ranked in the top 200 at his position.
Freshman receiver Jalil Hall was carted off during the Aug. 30 win over Ball State. Head coach Barry Odom said Monday Hall suffered a lower leg injury that will keep him out for significant time. Receivers De’Nylon Morrissette and Chauncey Magwood also remain out.
Sophomore linebacker Winston Berglund, who missed the final seven games last season with an injury, left the Ball State game in the first quarter. He is listed as out against Southern Illinois, as is freshman tight end Jon Grimmett, who has yet to practice after offseason surgery.
