Social media reacts to AJ Dillon’s regular-season return in Philadelphia Eagles’ opener vs. the Dallas Cowboys

After missing the entire 2024 NFL season with a neck injury, AJ Dillon has made his long-awaited regular season return.

And, while he’s still repping a green jersey — this time around, it’s a different shade.

After five years with the Green Bay Packers, the running back signed a one-year contract with the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in March.

The Eagles’ first preseason game of the year, about a month ago, marked the first NFL game Dillon played in since coming back from his injury. Philly would beat the Cincinnati Bengals, 34-27, at Lincoln Financial Field in that one.

In the league’s 2025 season opener Sept. 4 — which proved to be dramatic from the start — the Eagles came out on top, 24-20, over the Dallas Cowboys at the Linc.

It was during that “Thursday Night Football” matchup that Quadzilla took the field to play in his first regular-season game since New Year’s Eve 2023.

Dillon entered the game after backup running back Will Shipley — who’s behind All-Pro Saquon Barkley on the Eagles’ RB depth chart — sustained a rib injury.

How’d Dillon do? Three carries for 10 yards.

Social media had feelings about Dillon’s return, from happiness that he’s back to doubters. Plus, some debate over where he should be on the depth chart. Take a look:
