Gambhir Credits Former Mentors After World Cup Triumph
India’s T20 World Cup triumph has drawn emotional reactions from across the cricketing world, with head coach Gautam Gambhir dedicating the historic victory to former India legends Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman. Speaking after India secured the title, Gambhir praised the influence both players had on shaping the culture and discipline of Indian cricket.
Gambhir said the team’s success was built on foundations laid by earlier generations of players and coaches who emphasized resilience, technical excellence, and team unity. According to Gambhir, Dravid and Laxman played a key role in mentoring younger players and strengthening the long-term development structure of Indian cricket.
Tribute to Dravid and Laxman
During post-match celebrations, Gambhir acknowledged the contributions of Rahul Dravid, who previously served as India’s head coach, and VVS Laxman, who has played a major role in India’s National Cricket Academy.
Gambhir noted that both legends helped nurture the next generation of cricketers and established systems that supported India’s strong pipeline of talent.
“They have contributed immensely to Indian cricket and to the growth of young players,” Gambhir said while addressing reporters. “This victory belongs to everyone who has worked for the team over the years.”
Support From BCCI Leadership
Gambhir also expressed gratitude toward Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), saying the cricket administrator provided strong support during the team’s preparation for the tournament.
According to Gambhir, the BCCI leadership ensured that players and coaching staff received the resources and backing necessary to perform at the highest level during the World Cup campaign.
He said the administrative support helped the team maintain focus throughout the tournament, particularly during crucial knockout matches.
India’s Dominant Campaign
India’s World Cup run was widely described as one of the most dominant campaigns in the history of the tournament. The team combined explosive batting with disciplined bowling and consistent fielding performances.
Key players including Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah, and Axar Patel delivered standout performances during the competition.
Analysts noted that India’s aggressive batting strategy and strong bowling depth made them one of the most complete teams in the tournament.
Celebrations Across the Country
Following the final victory, celebrations erupted across India as fans gathered in major cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Chennai.
Crowds filled streets and public squares waving national flags, while fireworks and victory rallies marked the country’s latest cricketing triumph.
Former players, sports officials, and political leaders also congratulated the team, describing the victory as a proud moment for Indian sport.
A Legacy Victory for Indian Cricket
Gambhir said the World Cup win reflects the strength of India’s cricketing ecosystem, from grassroots training programs to international competition.
By dedicating the victory to Dravid and Laxman, Gambhir highlighted the continuity between generations of Indian cricketers who have contributed to the team’s success.
As India celebrates another global cricket title, the team’s performance has reinforced its reputation as one of the dominant forces in modern T20 cricket.
