Here is our prediction for the game:
Vanderbilt vs Virginia Tech prediction
Vanderbilt is a step above Virginia Tech from a talent standpoint, and this could be a showcase game for Pavia and Eli Stowers. Bet on special teams to make a difference for the Commodores, too.
Vanderbilt vs Virginia Tech scouting report
Why Vanderbilt has an advantage: Vanderbilt is more talented than Virginia Tech and won the matchup between the two teams a year ago. Pavia and Stowers are a better offensive duo than what Virginia Tech has, and Pavia’s running ability could help negate the Hokies’ defensive line. Virginia Tech allowed a punt return touchdown to the Gamecocks, which is something the Commodores could take advantage of.
Why Virginia Tech has an advantage: The Hokies are at home with a sellout crowd, and that always counts for something. Virginia Tech has a strong defensive line, which could cause problems for a Vanderbilt offensive line that lacks depth. While they are expected to still play, the Commodores have a few offensive players dealing with injuries that could impact their performance.
Vanderbilt vs Virginia Tech injury updates
Vanderbilt tight end Cole Spence and wide receiver Junior Sherrill are both probable after suffering injuries against Charleston Southern. Offensive lineman Gunner Givens (lower body) is questionable.
