5-star Iowa women’s basketball recruit Addison Bjorn commits to Texas

In an illustration of the program’s rise in stature, Iowa women’s basketball made a serious push for five-star forward Addison Bjorn.

The 6-foot-2 small forward out of Park Hill South in Riverside, Mo., included the Hawkeyes among her final seven schools after making her way to Iowa City for a Sept. 26-28 official visit where she took in Iowa’s football game against Indiana.

But after a lengthy recruiting process that stretched past the final day of the early signing period, Bjorn revealed that she will play college basketball at Texas.

Texas wins out over Iowa and fellow finalists Kansas, UConn, Notre Dame, North Carolina, and Duke.

Bjorn was recognized as Missouri’s 2024-25 Gatorade Player of the Year. Bjorn averaged 22 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 3.3 steals per game at the time of her selection as the Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year with Park Hill South.

Though Iowa misses out on signing Bjorn, the Hawkeyes signed another five-star in their 2026 class. Iowa inked five-star forward McKenna Woliczko out of Archbishop Mitty in California.

Woliczko was averaging 22.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game on 59% shooting last year before suffering a season-ending injury, which coach Jensen alluded to. In her sophomore season with Archbishop Mitty, Woliczko averaged 22.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

Woliczko is ranked as the No. 6 player nationally, as the No. 2 power forward, and as the No. 2 player in California in the 2026 class per 247Sports.

Woliczko’s signing with Iowa marked consecutive signing classes where a five-star California prospect signed with the Hawkeyes.

Woliczko joined Addie Deal in that regard. Deal was ranked as the nation’s No. 9 player in the 2025 class per 247Sports.
