The San Francisco 49ers opened their 2025 NFL season with a 17-13 triumph over division rival Seattle from Lumen Field.
49ers quarterback Brock Purdy directed a seven-play, 68-yard touchdown drive that was capped by a 4-yard touchdown pass from Purdy to San Francisco tight end Jake Tonges, who made his first NFL receptions on Sunday.
But, San Francisco didn’t get out without some bumps and bruises. Star 49ers tight end George Kittle exited with a hamstring injury and wide receiver Jauan Jennings departed with a shoulder injury.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan didn’t have an update on the pair’s injury statuses following the win.
“No, I mean, we’ve got to get the MRIs and everything tomorrow to find out,” Shanahan said.
San Francisco left tackle Trent Williams briefly exited but came back to the game. Afterwards, Shanahan said he didn’t know if it was an ankle that Williams was temporarily dealing with.
Shanahan also shared that defensive lineman Sam Okuayinonu got evaluated for a concussion, but he returned to the game.
49ers fans will anxiously await the MRI news on both Kittle and Jennings in the hopes that Purdy and San Francisco won’t be without two of its top offensive weapons for an extended period of time.
